Bright Futures Atlanta is a non-profit after school and residential program in the heart of one of the nation's most dangerous neighborhoods: Bankhead.

I was lucky enough to get tapped for the Bright Futures end-of-year giving campaign. Working with the founder and his team proved not only to be a great long-form copy exercise, but also an ad agency project that warmed my heart.

Out of the chaos. Into college.

Meet Jessica, our Class of 2016 Valedictorian. In spite of being from a community plagued by violence, addiction, and high dropout rates, Jessica has overcome and is off on a new adventure.

“Bright Futures has given me everything I needed to succeed—guidance, safety, education, and family meals. Today, I’m in college at Georgia Southern, studying to be a special ed teacher. I want to make a difference in the lives of kids, too.”
“I’ll hold your hand. But I’ll soon let go.”
Bright Futures scholars are called to rise up and overcome very harsh realities. Through education, discipleship, and personal development, Bright Futures gives students a safe environment in which they can grow and thrive. Jessica continues:

“When I took British Literature at Bright Futures, I struggled. Ms. Martinez told me: “I’ll hold your hand, but I’ll soon let go.” I took my book home, studied harder, and ended that class with an “A”. Now I tell my friends, ‘Never give up on the things that seem hard. The harder the struggle, the more glorious the triumph.’”

In an area with a high school graduation rate of less than 50%, Bright Futures graduated 100% of our seniors last year. We have nearly doubled our enrollment to serve 75 students, and we’ve expanded our classroom space to serve even more. We provided 31,093 meals and have taken students on out-of-state trips. We painted, played sports, and worked together as a family. We’re so excited to continue growing in the 2017/18 school year.

At Bright Futures Atlanta and Academy, over half of our operational costs came from you. And our students are never charged a dime. With your help, we can continue to provide life-giving opportunities to children in need. Click “Make A Difference” to help us reach our end-of-year goal of $100,000 and give these deserving kids a brighter future.
