Lyft wanted to take a stand and celebrate World Pride and the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall. We were also trying to take over market share in NYC at the time. To connect the dots, we dialed in on the truth that millions of like trans woman Marsha Johnson (who threw the first brick at Stonewall) have come to NYC over the years to make it their safe harbor. Truly, it’s a city like none other for LGBTQ+ people.

I had the privilege of working with photographer Michael Baca on the ground in NYC to interview these incredible people and elevate their stories on Instagram.
